As human beings we often say and do things to one another, that in our heart of hearts, we truly did not mean and at some point, we truly regret. You, being on the receiving end of such treatment, may find it difficult to overcome your feelings of hurt, bitterness and anger! As Christians, many of us are surprised this behavior is still among us. As we interact in the body of Christ, we often find that we are having difficulty forgiving someone or we are in need of forgiveness from someone our selves.
Just why do we have a problem with forgiveness, after we have accepted Jesus Christ and set about becoming a new person in Him? Why do we have conflicts with one another in the church and say harsh things that we later regret? Why do we allow bitterness to remain in us, even after we receive an apology for an offense committed against us at the hands of another? How can we as a follower of Jesus Christ, walk away from another Christian murmuring resentment within? The answer could lay in our lack of understanding of what is “true forgiveness” according to our Christian beliefs, found in the Word of God.
We witness the “acts of forgiveness” from its inception as a consequence of Adam and Eves trespass against God in the Garden; to its dramatic climax in the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The Bible is replete with admonishments referring to forgiveness. While this theological term is the cornerstone of our faith, it is at the same time, a stumbling block for many believers.  This is a very sad commentary on the Church, which is the Body of Christ! It is total hypocrisy for Christians to stand before unbelievers, proclaiming their testimony of salvation, while holding ill against another believer! It is my prayer that this study will shed God’s Light of Understanding on this subject, which is so important to our growth and development, as followers of Jesus Christ!
George Herbert a Welsh born English poet, orator and Anglican priest once wrote, “He who cannot forgive, breaks the bridge over which he himself must pass.” No doubt this saying was inspired from his reading and study of the Bible. Alexander Pope, another English poet and satirist, coined the saying, “To err is human, to forgive, Divine.” We have heard these often repeated references to forgiveness not only in literature and played out in drama upon stage and screen, but in Scripture also.  It becomes obvious from viewing our behavior with one another, that there must be some misconceptions about the role of forgiveness in our lives.  Even with all of this, what do we know of Forgiveness?
We say “I know God has forgiven me of my sins!”, but do we really believe that? Do we truly understand the “Fact of God’s Forgiveness” of us? Or has the word and concept of “forgiveness” become just another Christian cliche we use to affirm to others “we are saved?” Can a person, be saved, sanctified, spirit filled and yet lack the capacity to forgive others for a perceived wrong against them? Must we daily, weekly, yearly ask for forgiveness of God, for our sins? How can that be, when at the very moment of our salvation, our slate has been wiped clean?  We have been totally forgiven of our trepasses against God!
Total forgiveness was in the very blood of Jesus, shed on Calvary, for our sake! His life’s ministry was the divine pronouncement of “forgiveness to mankind!” His last words while nailed to the cross, ushering in the “New Covenent”  were “Father…Forgive them!” As followers of Christ, forgiveness is a vital part of our nature. According to 2 Peter 1:4(NIV), we are “partakers of the divine nature.” We have the capacity to forgive because of the nature inside of us. When we believed and accepted Jesus’s once for all sacrifice, God took away our old sinful nature and gave us a new nature. His nature! Although we often do not act like we have a new nature, it is our very nature to be forgiving, like His.
Let’s take a closer look at forgiveness! Let’s view it from the Old Testament Covenent and from the New Testament Covenent. This will clarify our understanding of just where and how forgiveness fits into our Christian lives. Under the old testament covenent, forgiveness of sins took place as an event; once a year, on the Jewish Day of Attonment. The High Priest of the Tribe of Levi, would enter The Tabanacle’s Holy of Holy’s and there make a blood sacrafice of an unblemished goat, to God. This animal sacrafice was prescribe by God, to obtain the  forgiveness  for sins of the peoples of Israel, for the year. By this sacraficial ritual the sins of the people of Israel, were ‘covered’!
Under the New Testament Covenent, a brand new kind of forgiveness was instituted. By the blood sacrafice of Jesus on the cross, a new kind of forgiveness called “Once for All Forgiveness”  came into being. Our sins were not merely ‘covered’ as the blood of bulls and goats accomplished under  the old covenent; but instead our sins are ‘taken away’; “once for all.”  By the ‘one time’ sacrafice of Jesus Christ, ‘all’ the sins of the world were taken away! Scripture after new testament scripture attest to  this fact.
Colosians 2:13-14(NIV) says “When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood oppossed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross.”
This scripture testifies to several things! It is a good capulation of what the New Testament means to us.  First, that God made us alive! We were dead in sin without any sign of a covenent with God. (Circumcision) He made us come alive with Christ! It is in Christ, that we live! Second, that He forgave us all of our sins! Notice that He forgave all our sins and  forgave is past tense. It is not that He forgave us of just our past sins, but He forgave all of our sins; past, present and future sins. All of our sins were in the future, when Christ died! Next it says, He canceled the written code with its regulations. This is refering to the Old Testament Laws of Moses; sacrifice and regulations; which it says, were against us. Why does it say “with its regulations, that was against us?”
Because, the Law itself was proved to be against anyone living holy. It was impossible for anyone to live by the Law and live up to its 615 codes!  Read Leviticus and see for yourself! The Law is canceled for us! And then it says, He took it away…..nailing it to the cross! The laws and regulations of the Old Testament Covenant became obsolete with the death of Jesus on that cross. Hebrews 8:12-13(NIV) says, 12) “For I will forgive their wickedness and remember their sins no more.” 13) By calling this covenant “new”, He has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.”  This is clearly a reference to the Old Testament Covenant becoming obsolete and disappearing from practice!
Let’s look at what other scriptures have to say about forgiveness! 1st John 2:12(NIV) says, 12) “I write to you, dear children, because our sins have been forgiven on account of his name.”  Notice again that forgiveness is expressed in the “past tense.”  It does not say, might be forgiven or will be forgiven, if you ask! There is no contingent in this verse. There is no condition for our forgiveness. It is God’s free gift to us!
Ephesians 4:32(NIV) says it in a similar way, 32) “Be kind and compassionate to one another forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Again the word forgave is present and is expressing a past tense action; God forgave you!
Hebrews 10:17-18(NIV) repeats, 17)”There sins and lawless acts I will remember no more,” 18) “And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin.” Now we see the past tense words, have been forgiven!
So what can we discern from these scriptures?  It would appear that God is trying to tell us something. What he is saying is that our forgiveness is an “Accomplished Fact.” It is expressed in the past tense for a reason!  That reason is best expressed by Jesus, when he said “It is finished”; because “It Is Finished.”
What does all of the above mean for you and me as Christians? It means that we are totally forgiven! That there is no condemnation left for us! That we won’t be judged for our sins! We were already judged and the verdict was guilty; the punishment was death; Christ died and took away all of our sins; and there is no punishment left! Propitiation is what Christ has performed in our behalf. Propitiation is a New Testament word that means, God is fully satisfied by the work of Jesus Christ. If God is satisfied with Jesus’ sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins, shouldn’t we be satisfied also?
Jesus says in John 3:17-18(NIV), 17) “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18) Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”  And Paul says in Romans 8:1-2 (NIV), 1) Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.”  Both Jesus and Paul make it clear that there is no condemnation for us. We receive total freedom from judgment…. total forgiveness!
Paul goes even further to say in Ephesians 1:7 (NIV), 7) “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.”  This is an interesting verse also. Notice it says we have two things… redemption and the forgiveness of sins! Do we wake up each morning saying, “Lord, Lord Please redeem me! Buy me back Lord! Redeem me, please!” This is something you might say at salvation, as we are indeed bought back by Jesus’ sacrifice! In Christ we are redeemed! But notice that verse 7 also says we have forgiveness of sins. So, if we don’t wake up every day saying “Please redeem me! Please redeem me! Why do we Christians wake up every day saying, “Please forgive me? Please forgive me!?
Paul is not saying that we should ask God over and over to forgive us for each individual sin. We would not be able to remember each individual sin we committed, even if we tried. We would be truly lost, if our redemption and forgiveness was based upon our ability to remember and confess each of our individual sins! What Paul is saying here is, in Christ we have redemption!  In Christ we have forgiveness of sins. It is a package deal! Once for all!  Are we asking again and again for forgiveness that we have already received?   Would you ask and receive your spouse’s forgiveness, and then ask it again and again daily, each time you came in contact with them? Perhaps, if you did not “believe you received their forgiveness the first time” or that they were “insincere when they gave it the first time!”  Do you doubt the “once for all” blood sacrifice of Jesus for the propitiation of our sins? Do you doubt His sincerity in willingly going to the cruelest death a person could suffer? Is it so hard to believe that God loves you and me that much?
As human beings we are not infallible in our efforts to grasp wisdom and understanding from the Word of God. We often put the cart before the horse; as the saying goes! We know that scripture says in 1st John 1:9(NIV), that, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”  We need to look at the context of this verse. By understanding the context in which a scripture is said, you obtain a clear understanding of its meaning. John was speaking about something that is radically different. The difference can be seen in verse 8, which precedes verse 9 and verse 10, which follows it.  In verse 8 he says, “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.” In verse 10 he says, “If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.” John was not speaking to believers! He was speaking to unbelievers… Gnostics!
John, the Beloved Disciple, was writing to warn Christians about dangerous false teachers who were trying to mislead them. He was writing about Gnostics and the heresy they were trying to teach. Gnostics number one teaching was that Jesus was not the Christ, the Son of God and he did not come in the flesh.  Their number two teaching claimed that sin was not real! Sin was an illusion!  Therefore we could not and have not sinned!  This was heresy and against Christ! John was fighting this type of heresy when he wrote in verses 8 and 10. However, in verse 9 he gave the Gnostic Heretics a way out of their heresy when he said, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. This was the only way that Gnostics could gain forgiveness; by confessing their sins of “unbelief.”
John is telling them if they do this, they will receive total forgiveness and be cleansed of all unrighteousness, once for all! This was the kind of forgiveness we receive from Jesus, total forgiveness. Not the daily tallying and remembrance of sins, one by one. This scripture did not mean for us to daily confess our sins, over and over, asking for forgiveness. It has been taken out of context.
“Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors” Matt. 6:12 (NIV) And “Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.” Luke 11:4(NIV), These memorable quotes from the Lord’s Prayer, put forth the idea that in order to receive forgiveness, you must first forgive others who have wronged you in some way. Is this what Jesus meant to teach his disciples when they asked him to teach them to pray? Again, the context surrounding the verse will clarify its meaning and application to us today! With our current understanding of forgiveness, you would not want to stand before God and ask Him to forgive you in the same way that you forgave others. Let’s look at the context of Jesus’ words in relation to other scriptures.
Galatians 4:4-5(NIV) says 4) “But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, 5) to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons.” Hebrews 9:16-18(NIV) Tells us that, 16)”In the case of a will, it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it, 17) because a will is in force only when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living. 18) This is why even the first covenant was not put into effect without blood.” The New Covenant did not come into effect with the birth of Jesus, in the Gospel of Matthew. The New Covenant of “once for all forgiveness” became in effect at his death on the cross! Galatians 4:4-5 points out that Jesus was born under Law, to redeem those under Law; which was the Old Testament Covenant. From the time of Jesus birth to his death, this period was under law. So, the forgiveness verses of the Lord’s Prayer were appropriate for that period under Law. They were spoken before he gave his life on the cross. Before the New Covenant came into effect!
Hebrews 9:16-18 points out that somebody (Jesus) had to die before their will (New Covenant) would come into effect. What took place the moment of Jesus’ death? The curtain in the Temple, separating the Holy of Holy’s was ripped from top to bottom.  This indicated that God was no longer separated from us. There was no longer a need for a high priest to make blood sacrifices for the forgiveness of our sins, in this place. Jesus Christ had just made the one time sacrifice for forgiveness of sins, for everyone who would accept him. A New Covenant between God and man began in which the God says, “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” And Jesus is the High Priest of this New Covenant!
Are you forgiven because you forgave someone else? No! What is the means by which we Christians obtain forgiveness? It is by the blood of Christ on Calvary! The shedding of his blood was in propitiation for our sins.  Had Jesus’ blood been shed at the time of the Lord’s Prayer? NO…it had not!
Ephesians 4:32(NIV) says, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”  And Colossians 3:13(NIV) says, “Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” Once again we were putting the cart before the horse. What came first? Did we forgive first or were we forgiven first? We were forgiven first by God and are now designed to pass forgiveness on to others! These verses tell us to forgive others because we have already been forgiven!
Brothers and Sisters, we don’t forgive to get forgiveness, as the prayer Jesus prayed before the New Covenant came into effect at his crucifixion! Instead, we are given the free gift of salvation and righteousness! We have been made alive; forgiven and cleansed of sin; in fellowship with God; free from condemnation! That is the beauty of the New Covenant! As we reflect on our forgiveness, are we going to get our theology from passages taken out of context? Or are you going to look back on all the “past tense” references to your forgiveness? That God “forgave” you for his names sake; that your sins and lawless acts, he remembers no more; where these “have been forgiven” there is no longer any sacrifice for sins; and he forgave us all our sins!
What can you do in response to God’s incredible gift of forgiveness? Instead of daily begging and pleading for what He has already given you by the sacrifice of His Son; accept it, say thank you Father and pass forgiveness on to another! We all have needed to extend forgiveness to other people at some time in our lives. And we have often been the one in need of receiving forgiveness from another. Some of us went on, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly; burdening ourselves with guilt, anxiety and bitterness over a person or an issue. Although the scriptures told us we were forgiven of our sins, we just could not forgive someone in our life or an issue that caused us emotional or physical injury. Understanding this truth, that we forgive others because we have been forgiven, grants us an opportunity to display the life-changing Grace of God!
God has forgiven us unconditionally through the propitiation of His Son Jesus. It is when we have an understanding of our complete forgiveness, that we are able to extend the same to others. As believers in Christ, it is the right thing to do! Forgive, release and let go of past injuries and wrongs caused by persons or issues in your life. Forgiveness doesn’t require forgetting…only choosing not to call to mind repeatedly, the offenses or issues of another; while God heals the memories. If we receive forgiveness from God, we must give it to others who hurt us. We cannot hold grudges or seek revenge for wrongs against us. We are to trust God for justice and forgive the person who offended us! Free yourself from un-forgiveness! This is within the will of God!

The month of February has been designated as Black History Month. In our celebration of Black History, many of us are reflecting on just what black history means to us today, in 2015. The motion picture Selma has just been released and it graphically shows important aspects of the civil rights struggle during the turbulent 60’s. Some have spoken of the bygone days of slavery, segregation and racial discrimination. Some have spoken of the civil rights movement; of Dr. King and our struggle for civil rights and to be recognized as human beings. It was our collective dream to be treated as equals with other Americans, with respect and dignity. And some still champion our continuing fight for equality in housing, education, and employment. Many of us have spoken of the Black men and women who fought and died in every one of America’s wars to ensure the freedoms we all enjoy today.

As Americans, we all come to this land under many different circumstances. Some as explorers; some as pioneers; some as fugitives and immigrants. And some of us came to America as the chattel property of another…as Slaves. It is to this latter circumstance that the majority of Black Americans find their origin in America. It was not a voluntary migration to these shores by our ancestors. They were attacked, rounded up and shipped here under inhuman conditions. Our people worked for 379 years of forced, unpaid labor in the fields and homes of their slave masters. That is three-plus centuries of being bred like cattle and inbred among family members; abused; tortured for sport and murdered at will by these same slave masters. The then Negro slaves were set free from the physical chains of slavery, by President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation of January 1, 1863.

The slaves were free at last! Free to do what?? It was a deceptive freedom! They were free in body to some extent, however, in numerous southern states their standing and treatment remained the same. Many faced harsh restrictions on where they could live and what occupations they could pursue. Their minds were still in chains! They were totally unequipped to earn a living for themselves in this new world with their new found freedom. To their surprise, they still found mistreatment and abuse, as they tried to live in harmony with their former slave masters.

All they knew was the plantation life! So many of them entered into indentured slavery to survive. They etched out a meager living by sharecropping in the south, and factory work in the northern cities that would allow them work. They were continually denied human rights and attacked and lynched by the very people they so faithfully served. They adapted, overcame and survived! We today are not only the product of these sturdy, determined people, but we are the beneficiaries of all their sufferings and sacrifices! Now, we have entered into a new and marvelous age. An age where the world has witnessed and it has been proven, that a person can go as far as his dreams will allow him.

Our history as a people is one that everyone can learn from. Particularly, the Black children and youth of today! They need to be taught their history from its earliest beginnings to the current day affairs. If you would take a random survey of our youth today, you would be surprised to know that our children know little or nothing about their Black History. They know more about Rappers and Athletes like Lil Wayne, Beyoncé, J-Low, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Ray Rice, then they know about the celebrated history and contributions of Black Americans to this country. The list of notable Black Americans is too long for this article. However, I must mention a few of them, like Benjamin Banneker, who laid out the design plans for the city of Washington, DC…or Garrett A. Morgan, who invented the gas mask and the traffic signal, or Dr. Charles Drew, who perfected the techniques of preserving plasma and made blood transfusions and blood banks possible.

Our children are taught a few cursory things that only scratch the surface of Black History. They learn nothing to even remotely compare with the knowledge other nationalities learn about their history and the race pride they develop as a result of this learning. It appears today that black people tend to be ashamed of “from whence we came!” I hear it all the time from young people; they say “that is the past…let it go….forget it!” “Nobody cares about what happened way back then.” Here’s a question for those closed minded young people…… Are other nationalities forgetting their history? Don’t even try to think about it! The answer is emphatically NO! Other nationalities who make up this country, are all embracing their history and cultures. They are teaching their history to their children and have found a great sense of pride, as a result of doing so. They have motivated their young people to be high achievers; to be successful and a credit to their heritage and country. White Americans are taught to “Remember the Alamo,” “Remember Pearl Harbor” and “Remember 9-11.”

Black Americans on the other hand avoid talking about our tragic history like a plague. We hold up a few prominent and successful people as our heroes, while ignoring the sacrifices and achievements of countless unsung notables, in science, medicine, engineering, agriculture, industry, literature, and the arts. These are our ancestors! These are the brave men and woman who sacrificed their all, suffered unspeakable deprivation and humiliation so that today, up from slavery; one of our people holds the highest office in this land. The Office of President of the United States! I have be asked, what does Black History mean to me?  To answer that, I have to carefully look back, because I was born and lived through an era of both advancement in technology, wars and civil rights struggles! A time when Americans went to the moon and Black Americans were set upon with fire hoses and dogs for seeking civil and basic human rights.

When I look about today and see our young men sagging, bagging, bragging and cursing using the derogatory term “Nig--r”…… When I see our young ladies dressing indecently with no sense of modesty and allowing themselves to be used and abused……. When I see the proliferation of drugs in our communities and schools……When I see the disintegration of our families, by fathers and mothers divorcing and leaving their children to raise themselves ….When I see our youth dropping out of school at all grade levels and not pursuing a college education…… When I see our Church leaders become lax in teaching, leading and standing for the Gospel by making compromises with the world....Then I know a substantial number of our people do not have a clue about the true significance of Black History Month!

What should Black History Month mean to us today?? Three words come to mind when I consider the national celebration of this month; Accountability, Gratitude and Thanksgiving!

1)   It should mean Accountability! We have a responsibility to hand down to our children, their true history; their cultural heritage and allow them to know the struggles and accomplishments of their people, who were former slaves…. That they may also develop a sense of race pride! We who know, are held accountable for not doing so!

2)   It should mean Gratitude! That we today are showing our appreciation for the sacrifices of those who have gone before us and paved the way with their lives, for the freedoms and opportunities we enjoy today! We do this by carrying ourselves as decent human beings; respecting the rights of others; standing firm in our faith and not degrading ourselves before the world with ignorant, indecent behavior. We must encourage our children that they can be more than athletes and entertainers performing for others.

3)    It should mean Thanksgiving! Being thankful to our God that we are   Americans and born of a people who withstood the worst treatment afforded any people in the history of the world; and we survived it all!  We are indeed, the greater takers! We are now able to stand and point proudly to the contributions of Black Americans to this great nation of ours and the world.

In this Black History month, we as a people must not forget from where we came and the sacrifices that countless Black Americans made to our present-day freedoms! We should celebrate and joyously honor the memory of our for-parents and current Black Americans who have contributed to prosperity of our American Society. There should be local and national celebrations in every state; in the schools, churches and public arenas; so that all the populace can share in the recognition of the struggles and successes of Black People in America! I remain hopeful that this generation of young Black Americans will wake up, acknowledge and claim their heritage; proudly honoring all who went before!

The Supreme Court is impotent, on Same Sex Marriage!

The Supreme Court’s recent decision to not hear any of the Same Sex Marriage cases pending before them, proves that this court is incapable of deciding law at the highest level of the Judicial. Rather than make a definitive ruling that would decide the matter of whether states can ban same sex marriages or not; they choose to avoid the issue knowing that their in-action would result in quasi-approval of same sex marriages; in those states who were weak enough to buckle under to the Gay Agenda.
I guess all those references to “God” in the formation of our government and the founding documents of the United States, was not making reference to “The Almighty God” of the Bible! The God of the Bible that they swear upon in every installation of government officials. They could not have been making reference to the “God of Creation;” that gave mankind specific moral laws to live by. No!....They could not have been talking about this same God that destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for their evil and immoral behavior! The same evil and immoral behavior that is blatantly practiced today by those who desire to live in same sex marriages.
If the State Judicial Court and the Supreme Court were thinking of the God of the Bible; the One stated in our Pledge of Allegiance as “ONE NATION UNDER GOD”; then both courts would have ruled according to the precepts of this Holy, Righteous and Moral God! They have instead ruled according to the desires of their God and ruler of this world, The Devil! It is his expressed desire to make sin, corruption and deviant behavior the “norm” in society. The news media is reporting that this decision represents a “Societal Shift” in its view and acceptance of same sex marriage! Or as Christians recognize it; the seduction of society by the LGBT propaganda and agenda, to make their deviant practices appear as NORMAL!
The LGBT has successfully infiltrated American society on every level! They have convinced the American people, (and too many Christians) that their unnatural “same sex marriages” and homosexual practices are “normal” and should be accepted!  How did they do this right under the nose of supposedly “good Christian Americans?”  By making themselves “a Cause” and projecting themselves as “Victims” of horrible discrimination! So, their agenda to corrupt society with open, blatant, promiscuous, homosexuality becomes a matter of “Equal Rights!” Their very public battle cry is, “We are two loving people who love one another, and want the same rights that heterosexual couples have!” Now we have some weak knee, un-Godly preachers siding with them and performing same sex marriages!
It seems the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community has forgotten basic biology! It is a biological truth that Bill and Tom cannot produce a child; no matter how much they love one another. They cannot produce the egg required! They can only produce sperm! Men are not designed to give childbirth! Mary and Sally cannot produce a child regardless to how loving a couple they are! They cannot produce the sperm required! They can only produce eggs! Women are designed to give childbirth! To produce another human being you must have a male sperm and a female egg! Nothing else will work! Those who believe in same sex unions get around this biological truth and produce children by surrogacy and adoption. The term “same sex” is another oxymoron, because people in these unions identify as and roll play as “male and female” counterparts. They try to imitate heterosexual couples! The enemy loves it when you have identity confusion; it leads you straight to sinful lifestyles and the road to hell! We are living in a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah!  And you know what happened to those cities!!

Now that I have your attention! Have you noticed how bold and risqué photo post have become on Facebook and Instagram lately? It is disheartening to witness our young women cheapen themselves by posting sexually suggestive photos of themselves on Face Book and Instagram, in an effort to attract someone. Ladies, did it ever occur to you what you are seemingly advertising when you post selfies of your butt for the world to see? Except for those men who view your photos as objects of lust; anyone else would view you as a low class, slutty tramp. Is this the only way you can attract a man? Are you that desperate? And what type of man will you attract by putting your assets on display? Is your body all you have to offer a man? You do know that potential employers hire agencies to scour the internet for content concerning you? Nothing is hidden and everything is accessible! Do you think your future employers will consider hiring you or promoting you, when they see you scantily dressed, with your behind posed on Facebook and Instagram? Unfortunately, we seem to  have adopted fornication and adultery as a cultural norm in our society. Both of these immoral behaviors can lead to unwanted pregnancy, transmission of deadly diseases, and possibly the murder of a baby by abortion!

Young ladies and supposedly mature ladies…. you need to check yourselves and your behaviors! You are looking for love in all the wrong places; under all the wrong conditions and at the wrong times in your development. Young and old are confused about what love and relationship means. Too many of you are equating your physical desires and indulgences for love and relationship. On this basis you will only have temporary affairs and encounters with men who won’t commit to you alone. You have opened the door to your own heartache! To bring the right person into your life, you need to put God first in your life and allow Him to make you into the woman that a decent man would want. You must first become a person of good character and morality yourself; respecting yourself and others; carrying yourself with pride and dignity;  standing fast on your commitment to preserve yourself until marriage.

Now, don’t tell me about a woman’s right to her body! That’s the Planned Parenthood motto and the major cause of abortion! Allow me to be politically correct for a moment! The name Planned Parenthood is an oxymoron! Under this guise, women and young girls can abort their babies after becoming pregnant, from willful acts of fornication and adultery! They can feel less guilt about it because “it’s your body and you don’t have to have a baby until you are ready.” Any fool knows if you engage unprotected sexual relations, you run the risk of pregnancy; regardless if you are ready or not! If you are not ready for the potential responsibility of parenthood, then don’t engage in this risky behavior. Women keep your legs closed and men keep it zipped up!

The enemy of God and righteousness, (in case you forgot, The Devil) desires you to commit sin and murder your babies! Throughout history the murder of innocent babies has plagued civilization. Thousands were murdered in Herod’s attempt to prevent Christ from being born. Pharaoh murdered thousands in his attempt to prevent Moses’s birth. Now, we are murdering millions of babies because they came as an “inconvenient result” of our sinful acts of fornication and adultery. God has a better plan for his people! Abstain, and preserve your “Gift” for your marriage! You know that one of God’s commandments is “You shall not kill.” Well, my friends… Abortion, regardless to who sanctions it; under whatever circumstances or at whatever stage of fetus developement…….is murder!  Don’t you understand that the instant a single male sperm penetrates a single female egg. . .Life has been initiated!  If you cannot understand this, then you need to take a refresher biology course. This is a biological TRUTH! But you say, “It’s my body and I have a right to do with it as I please!”

The first right a woman has to her body is not to give it away to every lying man that crosses her path! A woman has the right and moral obligation to preserve her “Gift” until she is in the lawful, protective relationship of marriage. Until she and her intendant husband stand before God and witnesses, and declare their love and fidelity to one another; they are just shacking up! Society may say that “it’s OK to live together! You need to test what you are getting and see if you like it before, you get married!” That’s what the enemy wants you to do! Be immoral, shack up and commit fornication and adultery; risk your reputation; risk unwanted pregnancy and disease; disrespecting God’s institution of marriage that creates, populates and protects the family. God says the bound of marriage is the only place for men and women “to exchange their Gifts”!
My sisters, you need to come out of them bars and night clubs trying to find a “good man”. Good men; decent men are not found in hanging out in bars, nightclubs and strip joints! They are not sitting on a bar stool trying to seduce,   drug and rape some woman. The only thing you have a potential of meeting in the bars and clubs, is a thug; a criminal; abusers; a rapist, a thief; low life’s, con men and men on the down low! You put your life in danger every time you leave out with some man or woman you just met and jump into bed with them! Some of you do worse than that! In your stupidity, you bring them to your home and go to bed! How do you face and answer your child when they ask you in the morning, “Mama, who’s that man in your bed?” It is a dangerous game and you cannot win! Do you want to know why Aids is so rampant in our communities? It is because of men and women’s promiscuous sexual behaviors! To address it by its proper names, it is because of Fornication and Adultery, Sin!

If you are a single woman with minor children, raise them yourself! Raise them by yourself! You can do this until God brings the “right” man into your life.  He will be a man that loves God and will love you and your children as his own! He will be a husband to you and a father to your children because Christ reigns in his life. Only God can put that kind of love into a man’s heart. You have to be patient and allow God to do it! Stop gambling with the lives of your children. The news media and police files are full of cases where stupid women have brought rapist,  pedophile’s and men “on the down low” home thinking they have met “someone special”. Men will tell you anything to get you in bed! He’s a smooth talker and has charmed you through your body and the lust of your desires. You think its love….. He knows it’s only sex!  Next thing you know, you are spending money on him and moving him into your home, over your children; thinking you are getting them a daddy. What are you going to do when you find him physically or sexually abusing your kids?

He’s not their father! You think you “know him”, when you just met him! You have put your children that you claim you love more than anything, in danger just so you can have a man in your bed. How stupid can you be? If you want a decent man, stop dressing like hookers and hoochie mama’s; twerking and shaking your behinds all over the place; thinking a decent man wants to see you looking and acting this way. Wear your clothing at respectable lengths. Stop showing everything you have to the world, by wearing clothes too short and too tight fitting. You even modify your behavior based on your attire. The shorter and tighter fitting your clothing, the more raunchy and ghetto you act, exposing your private parts.  The reason it’s called “private parts” is because they are supposed to be kept “Private”! Not on public display! That’s what too many of you are doing! You are putting it all out there “on display.” There is nothing left to the imagination because you are showing it all like a piece of meat in a display case. You force a man choose you based on his lust for the flesh and not for your virtues! What you are showing and saying by your actions is, “This is what you will get, if you choose me!”

Unfortunately, this attire and behavior has slowly crept into the Church! Some Christian women even come to church dressed totally inappropriately for the House of Prayer; talking about they are saved and sanctified! How they justify their appearance as a saved and sanctified woman, I don’t know. They want to carry their modesty in the form of a “lap scarf!” Common sense should tell you if you have to use a lap scarf, your dress is too short!  I do know a godly woman dresses appropriately with pride, modesty and self-respect for God’s House of Worship. Dressing like hookers and hoochie’s has no place in the worship of God. It is disgraceful! If your Pastor or Church Mothers have not told you this before, I am telling you now! Yes, you come to Christ as you are, with what you have; until you learn better and can do better! The more mature Christian women should have no problem pulling the younger, less mature ladies lovingly aside and teaching them what is appropriate dress for the house of God. The Godly woman is beautiful because of her Godliness and virtue adorns her like a crown! She is not beautiful because of worldly fashions and attire!

How the shape of her body looks is for her husband only to know! It is not for every man that she passes. If some of these Pastors weren’t so weak and afraid of losing people from the church rolls, they would not permit their parishioners to come to church dressed totally inappropriate! They need to stop hiding behind the weak excuse, “We can’t tell women how to dress!” Yes, you can! If the Pastor of the Church sets and follows the standard of biblical decency, then the women of the church have no choice but to comply or move on! If they comply and adjust their dress accordingly, then you have church body that adheres to high moral standards. If they move on to a more liberal, worldly values accepting church, then “good riddance!” Work even harder teaching our young girls and women modesty and moral conduct that is pleasing to God and gives them the respect and admiration of godly men.

If your behavior puts you in any of these categories, now is a good time to turn back to God and repent! Your salvation and a changed life is only a sincere prayer away! The God we serve is an Awesome God! He is a forgiving, loving God! There is nothing you have done that He will not forgive because of the shed blood of Christ Jesus! Pray, confess and repent! He is the God of Second, Third, Fourth and unlimited chances! I pray that our Father will grant you the strength to turn your life around in the face of all this attraction to evil and sin. Call upon the name of Jesus, and be saved!

My People, “Stop following these Sooth-Sayers, Motivational Gurus and Tel-a-liar’s, So-called Prophets and Self Appointed Apostles!

These people are in reality the “False Teachers” the Bible warns you about! They have blinded well intentioned Christians with their philosophic, psycho-babel, mumbo-jumbo! You see their “feel good” messages daily in the post of Facebook and other Social Media sites. They try to make profound declarations out of their pseudo philosophy! Most of their quotes are mixed-up Bible truths with psycho-babble! Some of it is out right nonsense! I know some of you will be offended by my pronouncement, against some of these popular preachers of heretical doctrine. (Yes, I am talking about them people you listen to rather than read your Bible for yourself); but when you examine what they teach through the lens of God’s Word, falsehood and nonsense is exactly what you will find! A bunch of psychological junk! You would probably be more upset right now, if I start naming these perpetrators of falsehoods.  Some of you may be surprised, but I doubt it, because they are on national television, radio, internet and in bookstores as Best Selling Authors. But then I don’t have to tell you! You know who they are and you know what they are! In truth, they are detractors from the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; Cheshire cat, grinning deceivers and agents of the enemy of God!
I know you say “They preach so well” And “They sound so right and they look so good and sincere!”

You have come under the spell of “personality worship!”  You are captivated by their appearance of affluence and attainment! It is the “prosperity gospel” where money and power is worshiped. And quite naturally you desire to have the same. You believe if you follow them, you will achieve the same success as they have! You follow these people religiously instead of following the True Savior, Jesus Christ! You give them praise and worship that only belongs to God! You practice the methods and recite the mantras of these mumbo-jumbo false teachers, instead of obeying the Word of God! Why do you do this? Because you find it easier than committing yourself to God and His plan for your life! You have found in them a church where you can pretend living righteously, while still living sinful! You don’t have to commit yourself totally to God! They will never demand that you live holy! Their only concern is the money you funnel into their pockets. You get a temporary emotional, adrenalin fix on their teachings and the motivational hype. You like this! You think the solution to all your problems lie achieving their false prosperity! But the permanent solutions and true joy of life is only found in the teachings of Jesus Christ! Their teachings won’t lead you to salvation and a relationship with God. Their teachings are all about “The Self” and how you can speak yourself to be “materially prosperous” now.

Why is all their teaching about achieving wealth, money and prosperity? You getting rich; having mansions, opulence and power over others? Why is living good now, the center of their message? They want you to forfeit eternal life in heaven for the temporal pleasures of Satan’s world! They want you to “plant a financial seed’ for a harvest you will never see! They are at the top of the pyramid scheme and you cannot get there! The prize for them is the loss of your soul! They pretend to love God and but they actually hate God and righteousness! The Bible’s teaching is about your soul’s salvation; the prosperity of your health and spirituality; your eternal destination and how to live your life free from the sinful influences of the enemy’s world. Yes! You can do this! But you cannot do it on your own! Those who follow Christ’s teachings have learned that we have no power of ourselves. The power to overcome the strongholds of sin in our lives comes only from the mercy and grace of God! It comes through His Son when we first believed and invited Jesus Christ into our lives. We are no longer estranged from God and we live victorious lives!   God’s Holy Spirit lives in us now! We are able to do all things “through Christ who strengthens” us! Pick up your Bible, the Word of God and find the joy of knowing God through the life and teachings of Jesus Christ!

Leave the slick talking, mystic, philosophical and motivational nonsense alone! It is occult superstition and demonic in its origins! Find a Bible Teaching Church that will help you to grow into the righteous person God intends you to be. Find a church where discipline and accountability is respected! Where people love the Lord and desire to live righteous lives.  Your real motivation lies within the scripture knowledge handed down to us in the Bible. You will be daily motivated, refreshed and empowered by the Word of God! You will find the God of Salvation who makes good on His Promises. Your commitment to Christ will make you a new person and enabled you to be successful in your undertakings! You will know faith; grow in truth and love for yourself and others as you apply God’s Word to your life.  Through the pages of the Bible, you will find encouragement, comfort and assurance in times of distress. While others are confused and unsure, you will have clarity and assurance of your eternal salvation. Gain control of your life by giving God control in your life! Come to know God for yourself! Come to Jesus Christ and Be Saved! Stop following the Sooth-Sayers, Motivational Gurus and Tel-a-liar’s! Be deceived no longer!

I am just about sick of all you Obama haters and critics! You screamed loud and cried over the number of US soldiers killed in Iraq and said, “Obama, bring our troops home from Iraq!” He brought them home from Iraq! Now you crying, “Well he brought them home too soon! We should have stayed longer because now ISIS is taking the country.” Then you screamed loud and cried over the number of US soldiers killed in Afghanistan and said, “Obama, bring our troops home from Afghanistan!” He’s been reducing troop levels in Afghanistan and bringing them home! Now you say, “We need to send troops back to maintain a presence because if we leave, the Taliban will take over Afghanistan! Now, since ISIS is attempting to take over the entire middle east and you say, “The President is acting too slowly; he needs to bomb them and send in troops! They brutally murdered two journalist and “it is Obama’s fault” because he did not act as quick or the way you wanted him to!
You people want to fight a war where there’s no bloodshed and no one gets killed! We all want our soldiers to come home without injuries and alive! However, you need to get your heads out of the comic books and television fantasy world and see the reality of conflicts and war! People are killed in wars! Not just combatants, but innocent civilians. You need to stop your “arm chair quarterbacking” and criticizing strategies that you know nothing about! Everyone is upset and shocked of the barbaric actions of ISIS but no one wants to make an emotional decision and rush headlong into catastrophe!   The Commander In Chief has to think about the entire population of the US and how his responses will affect us now and in the future. Your public criticisms do nothing but aid the enemies of America. It shows division among our people and wanton disrespect for our elected leader!
We have an all-volunteer military! They volunteer to enlist and fight for America because they believe in America and in serving their country. They know full well they may be in harm’s way and are willing to take that risk so we at home can remain free. They are the bravest men and women! President Obama did not draft anyone or start these wars. He is still adjusting and cleaning up Bush’s failed policies! None of us know what all is involved and on the table at the White House! We can only guess and 9 out of 10, our guesses would be wrong! Let the people who do know, do their jobs without you “do nothing moaners and groaners” mouthing off in the press!
How do you fight an enemy hiding among the populace? The enemy looks like, talks like and dresses like the civilian populace! How do you fight him and not kill up the innocent people of the country? If you bomb them, you have civilian casualties. If you send in ground troops, the enemy hides their weapons and blends into population, appearing as ordinary families! Just like in Afghanistan, Palestine, Syria and Iraq, they don’t wear distinguishable uniforms! They wear the native clothing of their culture. So how do you know who to shoot? You don’t, until they are shooting at you!
You want to cry and moan and try to take our President to task over two journalist butchered by ISIS! We are sorry for your loss and do feel your pain! At the same time, we don’t hear you crying and moaning about the 1500 to 2500 innocent Christians who were murdered; or the innocent Muslims, who were murdered by their fellow Muslims ISIS! Why? Because they would not abandon Christ for Allah or were Muslims who are not of the ISIS sect! How can people cut off the heads of innocent Christian babies? How can they behead, impale and shoot men, women and children; in the name of a God? You want to put Obama out of the White House now! It won’t make any difference who is in the seat of the Oval Office. The enemy’s agenda will be the same and it will be carried out in the same manner! They don’t want to live in peaceful coexistence with Westerners. They want their brand of Islam to dominate the world with its archaic, barbaric Sharia Law.  Instead of criticizing, you need to be praying that God guides our President to make the best and correct decisions regarding the course of action! You need to be praying that God protects our troops wherever they are! And you really need to pray that ISIS does not get into the United States!

My Social Commentary Aug. 20, 2014
Ferguson’s On-going Conflict.
A midst the cries of outrage, sorrow and anger in Ferguson, Mo., voices are being heard calling for calm and peace in the streets. The senseless murder of Michael Brown has fueled week long demonstrations and looting in this St. Louis suburb. The police have not been able to quell the disturbances and have called in State Highway Patrol officers and the National Guard for assistance. This development has not calmed the demonstrators. To the contrary, the presence of National Guard troops and combat armored vehicles has only incited them more. The death of this young man has brought to the surface, once again, the fact that racism is still alive and well in America and that Black Americans are the major victims of racial discrimination and police brutality.
Disenfranchisement, racial discrimination and police brutality is nothing new to Black communities across the United States. We have been experiencing it for decades. We have gotten used to it and have adapted to it so much, that we have come to expect it in all of our dealings with the larger community. As long as Black Americans are silent and complacent, this status quoi of poverty, exploitation and racial discrimination will continue. Ferguson is a microcosm of conditions Black Americans are forced to live in across the United States. Everywhere there is a concentration of Black people, they are policed as if they were in a concentration camp.
I am not a proponent of violence and the destroying of property and businesses within our communities. There is not a point to be made or issue addressed by destroying your own communities and businesses within them; some of which were Black owned. I don’t believe this solves the problems of the Black community or brings about justice in addressing wrongs! It only adds credibility to the negative images and beliefs of those whose minds and hearts we desire to change towards ourselves. Leaving your communities as burned out shells will accomplish nothing! Having convenient goods and services in your community through businesses, is called infrastructure! If you destroy the infrastructure of a community, the result will be desolation, poverty, crime and apathy!
As Christians, God gives us “do overs”. I thank God for second chances! And in most of our lives, we have to thank Him for, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and so on, chances to “get it right”. In society, you rarely get the chance to correct past mistakes or be forgiven for past wrongs. If I were the representative of the Black community of Watts, California and was given the divine power to effect the past events of this community. The first thing I would do would be to reverse the Watts Riot and the Rodney King Riot! Regardless of the issues of “right and wrong”, these two events did more to hurt the Black populace and set back race relations than anything else! This is just my opinion! Why do I feel this way? Because, I grew up and lived in Watts! I know what it is to not have retail stores, restaurants, supermarkets and movie theaters in your community because protesters destroyed the infrastructure! I know what it is to have to go shopping for necessities in other communities, and be looked upon with distrust and dislike for being there.
People of Ferguson and people across the United States, don’t allow the enemy of God to trick you into actions that are detrimental to your lives and the life of your communities! You want justice for a perceived injustice? Then respectfully and peacefully express you displeasure! But most importantly be willing to come to discussion with authorities and offer remedies to correct and get redress for what was done. The devil is happy to see you burning and looting your communities! He knows that while you are doing this, you have forsaken Godliness! If you continue to practice ungodliness, he’s got power over your life. If you give him power, he will lead you to ruin, death and hell! I know what it is to witness the unjust death of a friend! I know how it feels to have hurt, grief, and anger swell up inside you that you feel you will burst into madness! I know what it feels like to want to take revenge on those who injured me this way!
However, I have learned of Christ that there are better ways; legitimate ways to secure redress for the wrongs of society. You must first free your heart and mind of hatred! That means you must forgive those who have wronged you unconditionally. It takes people who have faith in Christ to take this first step. They know the reason for forgiveness is for them and that we forgive others because God forgave us first! When we were deep into our sins, God grasped us; forgave our sins and saved us by His Mercy and Grace! Not because we did anything to deserve His favor! Only because of His election to do so! We are the recipients of “God’s unmerited favor.” That’s what He does! How dare you and I who have been forgiven all, not forgive others who have wronged us!
Secondly, we must utilize the Civil System, Criminal Justice System, and Judicial System and Legislatures to the fullest, to reach our desired goals. That takes the Patience of Job! We know that corruption exist in these institutions, but you cannot fight corruption with rocks and bottles. If we cannot get justice and fairness in these systems, then we must change the system. How do you change the systems? You effect change in the system by educating, training, supporting and electing competent, honest, ethical people of faith to these positions. Channel all that energy for destruction into working with groups and organizations already working in this vein. Form new groups and organizations that express your views for change and positive growth in our communities.
Peace and harmonious racial relations can be obtained, if you truly want this! Come out of the streets and get into civic organizations and your local church body to help them work for meaningful changes through cooperation and mutual trust. May God bless you to see the folly in violent civil disobedience and wanton destruction of communities? It is my prayer that God will grant you the spirit of forgiveness, so that bitterness does not grow in your hearts. May He open your mind and hearts to fresh ideas and methods of achieving justice and peace for the Black community! If you are angry and grieving, come to Jesus Christ and make your confession of need. Allow Him to calm your spirit and comfort your grief!

I have been silent up until now, concerning the tragic murder of Michael Brown in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson. We have witnessed the anger, frustration and confrontation of residents with police authorities, ever since the incident. It is hard for people not present at the inception, to grasp what really occurred. They have to rely on rumor, and sketchy witness accounts of the events. One thing that is obvious to all is that the shooting of Michael Brown, (regardless of his guilt or innocence), is a decades old pattern of Blacks being murdered at the hands of Police. I am sure they will justify this killing with their standard defense, “I was in fear for my life”! (That’s why I shot an unarmed black teenager 8 times!)
Although I was born in St. Louis, Mo., I left there as a 5 year old child; and therefore know very little about the city and its peoples. I do have a large extended family living there and have been back on several occasions for a visit. I wanted to get a feel of what was going on and how the people felt concerning this matter and the way it is being played out in the media. So, I contacted some relatives and friends whom I know lived in the area, and would give me some honest, “boots on the ground” observations. From what I have learned and I believe to be true; Ferguson is what anyone would call, “a nice middle class, blue collar, well-kept community”!
My sources tell me that, this incident is an isolated exception to decades of peaceful coexistence between all ethnic groups and the police authorities. The area where this shooting took place is an area of public housing. (Projects) The police maintain a heavy presence there due to drug trafficking, gang violence, prostitution and regular homicides. So the atmosphere is one of continued surveillance and frequent police stops of suspicious people and behaviors. The stopping of Michael Brown may have been justified, however, the use of deadly force was unjustified by all standards of reasoning. Now, that brings me to the community’s response to this unjustified killing of an unarmed black teenager!
My sources say, that what was an peaceful expression of anger over the killing and frustration over lack of justice; turned into verbal outrage, chaos and rioting; looting and random destruction of local businesses. Is this behavioral response defensible or justified? I believe the peaceful, law abiding people of Ferguson, would be the first to say emphatically, NO! Several of my observers, indicate that the real cause of the rioting was the criminal elements.  Thugs and gang members are the source of the rioting, looting and destruction! They use the outrage of the people over this incident, to edge them on to riot and destroy their own community. They have used Michael Brown’s death as an excuse to steal and destroy local businesses for their own gain! They could care less about Michael Brown, as long as they can steal merchandise and behave like thugs.
They need to take a lesson from the Watts and Detroit Riots of the late 1960’s. I lived in Watts, Jordan Downs Projects when the riots broke out over an unjustified killing of a black motorist. I witness firsthand the rioting, looting and destruction of the business district. I saw the fear in people as the National Guard surrounded the community and cut off utilities and imposed a curfew that would get you shot dead for being on the street. I remember huddling on the floor with my wife and child in an effort to protect them from the gunfire and rambling bands of thugs preying on innocent people. I lost my lively hood because my so-called black brothers broke into my storage and stole all my gardening equipment.
Most importantly, I saw how those same bad brothers were weak little cowards when the police and National Guard went door to door, retrieving merchandise and arresting those who participated in the riot. What is so very sad about the Watts and Detroit riots is this: a) people lost their lives over nothing but foolishness; b) the criminals and thugs helped to destroy the infrastructure of these communities; c) very few businesses rebuilt in these communities; d) people from these areas were discriminated against when seeking employment; obtaining loans and insurances. To this day, large retail businesses who previously had a presence in these communities and provided thousands of jobs, fled and never came back! 54 years after the Watts Riot, there is no major department stores; Supermarkets; Restaurants or even one Movie Theater. People have to leave their community and go to another for services.
We all know, from incident after incident, that racism is “alive and well” in America! However, we cannot defeat racism by destroying our communities and then begging the same racist people to do for us, now that we don’t have a home. Racism can only be destroyed by decent people standing together for what is right and just for everyone! How can we say we believe in an All-Loving and just God, and not stand up against injustice when we experience it? This insidious disease of racism does not just affect Black Americans; but Hispanics, Asian and White Americans also. The National Press and media outlets have had their cameras rolling 24-7 in Fergusson, Mo. Guess what two publicity seeking blood suckers of poor people, showed up?? None other than the Black Opportunist, Rev. Jessie (Keep me Alive) Jackson and his equally opportunist buddy, Rev. Al Sharpton! Better known as “Black Activist and Exploitation Leaders!”   Malcom X once call them, “Lying Black Chitlin-Sucking Preachers.” At that time I thought he was too hard on them and their activist programs. But I fear he may have been more insightful than I, since observing their behaviors over the years.
A case in point, the murder of Kelly Thomas last year in Fullerton, Ca.  A white homeless man suffering from schizophrenia, was beaten to death by Fullerton Police. Where were Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton when the people of Fullerton, California were screaming “police brutality” and demonstrating against the Fullerton Police Department Officer’s, unjust beating to death of Kelly Thomas? Where were our publicity seeking so-called activist leaders?? Normally, like ocean sharks, they would have smelled the blood of a victim from wherever they were. Normally, they would have immediately held press conferences to announce their outrage of the event and their intention to come and demonstrate on behalf of the injured party until justice was served! Normally, they would have shown up at the scene of the crime the very next day; regardless to where they had to fly from.
I thought these gentlemen’s (and I use the term very loosely, with tongue in cheek) civil rights agenda and stance, were dedicated to defending the civil rights of “all peoples”. Their previous histories show them before the television news cameras, on popular television and radio shows and in the printed media, decrying the injustice against a person and rallying for demonstrations against the injustices perpetrated by those in authority against “its citizens”. These two clowns were always the first to run before the cameras and media to champion the cause of the injured party. My question is, do they only champion the injustices done to “black people”? Or do they champion against injustice to “all people”?
Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton are both Christian Preachers and So called Civil Rights Activist. They should be the first to come to the defense of any victims of injustice, regardless of their race. Do you see them reaching out to other races and communities offering their support to the victims and their families? No! Could it be because it is not an issue where they could derive some publicity, monetary or political value from it?  Could it be because despite their claims to care about “all people”, they are really only concerned with the plight of ‘black people”?  I hope this is not the case! But it sure does look like that, the way they have run to Ferguson, Mo. and jumped in front of the cameras! My sources tell me that, the overall consensus of the people of Ferguson, is that they don’t like or appreciate Jessie and Al coming there and trying to take over their demonstration. One person stated, “Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton are not our leaders! They don’t represent me and never will!” Another person says, “They just want to look like they doing something for the white people!” “They need to go back where they come from and let us talk for ourselves!”
Who was it that said, “There go my people! I got to catch up with them, after all, I am their leader!” By this time in our social and world history, we should have learned that as human beings, we are all living this life TOGETHER.  Our individual actions today not only affect us; but have nationwide and often time, world implications. As believers in Christ, we are commanded to “love one another, even as God loves us.” Unconditional love does not see color or race! It sees another child of God in need, hurt or suffering injustice at the hand of another! The Christ indwelling us, demands that we come to his aide. If our (so-called) leaders won’t extend the love of Christ to others, so be it! That just means you and I should and must leave our complacency, and show our love and support to ANYONE, suffering injustice. Not just to our own race. That is perpetuation of racism! If we do this, I believe we don’t have the right to call ourselves Christians! We are not following Jesus’s teachings and example! We are hypocrites the same as the Pharisees, Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton!
There is so much crime and suffering going on in our communities. There is so much good that people of goodwill, could do, if they would only trust God and reach out to help their fellow man. Grieve for Michael Brown and his family! Allow yourself to express compassion for another human being! One that God loves just as much as He loves you! As for the officer who took his life, let the justice system adjudicate the matter. If justice is not served here, it most surely will be given by God! Don’t allow yourselves to act uncivilized and ungodly by rioting, stealing and destroying property! May God quiet the anger; calm the frustration and comfort the hearts of those who grieve!

Iyanla Vanzant is an American inspirational speaker, New Thought spiritual teacher, author, and television personality. She is known primarily for her books, for her eponymous talk show, and for her frequent appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Wikipedia

“Live your life like nobody is watching you. Live beyond expectations. Live beyond what you have been told is right, wrong, good or bad. Just for one day, live like you are totally free to be anything and do anything you choose for yourself. Allow yourself the freedom of talking to yourself, dreaming for yourself, dancing with yourself and living your life like nobody else in the world cares or is watching what you are doing.” So says, Iyanla Vanzant!

On the surface this sounds good to the ear of the searching heart! However it is not practical, possible or wise to follow Ms. Van Zant’s sooth sayings! She is a product of the New Age-New Thought Philosophy Teachings. She sits regularly at the feet of heretical teacher, Michael B. Beckwith; founder of Agape International Spiritual Center; of which she is a member and frequent speaker. Beckwith doesn’t know what to teach! He’s all over the place in his teachings. He’s gone from Religious Science Ernest Holmes, Science of Mind to New Age/New Thought Philosophy; (Also known as Mumbo Jumbo Spiritualty). He was part of that great money grabbing group of false teachers, who collaborated and published “The Secret.”
Ms. Van Zant’s philosophy grows out of demonic, New Age Spirituality. This teaching does not point to or acknowledge Jesus Christ as God and Savoir of the world. Its emphasis is on the individual saving and changing themselves by their own power. It is dangerous for Christians to follow, as it is intended to distract you and lead you away from Jesus Christ. Her proverbs places you right into the hands of God’s Arch Enemy! This is not the first time the idea of reckless abandonment of morals, beliefs and societal laws; in search of an imaginary freedom, has been advocated. Satan himself advocated this when he tempted Eve to disobey God.
We as humans have never and will never be able to live irrespective of other human beings. Or in total disregard of the nature’s laws, societal laws or God’s spiritual laws that affect our collective lives. Is it because of her celebrity that people take this nonsensical, mumbo jumbo life coaching for truth and enlightenment? We don’t even swallow our food without examining it first;  but people accept this ambiguous New Age dribble as truth.
She says, “Live your life like nobody is watching you!” What does that mean? How is that accomplished when we live under the scrutiny of others 24/7, as we live in a communal society! Even more so today, as there are cameras everywhere! But most importantly, God is watching and our desire should be to live a good life and do what is pleasing to Him!
She says, “Live beyond expectations!” Who’s expectations are you trying to exceed? God’s expectation or your own? You cannot live beyond what God expects of you, because He is all knowing!  Are you putting your own self-imposed demands or someone else’s, upon yourself? Are you angry with yourself because you fell short of expected goals? Can’t you just hear God saying, “I never demanded that from you…..You were demanding that of yourself; and you fell short of it!”
She says, “Live beyond what you have been told is right, wrong, good or bad.”  We have two sources for our knowledge of what’s right, wrong, good and bad. (Better known as Good and Evil) The first source is God Almighty, through His Word! The second is the Government and the institutions that comprise it. So now, she wants people to live lawlessly! To determine individually what is right, wrong, good or bad? Are we going back to the days of the Wild-Wild West?  Are we now to disregard our God given moral compass and Biblical commandments? Are we now to have no regard for our civil regulations that protect our society from anarchy? Didn’t Adam and Eve disobey God seeking the freedom to determine for themselves the knowledge of good and evil?
Then she closes by saying, “Live like you are totally free to be anything and do anything you chose for yourself. Allow yourself the freedom of talking to yourself, dreaming for yourself, dancing with yourself and living your life like nobody else in the world cares or is watching what you are doing” Well, Ms. Van Zant has just describe the “perfect world” for criminals, predators, pedophiles and homosexuals. Self-indulgent behavior like there is nobody to care what you do or watching you do it! Live a hedonistic lifestyle is what she is advocating. Shall we go back to the days of Roman debauchery, under the guise of “personal freedom/liberty?
A wise man once said, “Freedom/Liberty without restriction is a vain and fanciful dream of unstable and flighty human minds”.  No one is free to do any and everything their heart desires. Unbridled personal liberty is a teaching of the devil. We are warned in 2nd. Corinthians 11:13-14 that false apostles, deceitful workers, transform themselves into the apostles of Christ. And Satan would transform himself into an angel of light. Don’t be fooled by the slick New Age jargon, no matter who is speaking it!

Recently the Oxygen Network launched a new reality program entitled “The Preachers of L.A.” There is clamor all over the internet and particularly in social media forums. Viewer’s in general and Christian Viewers in particular are not pleased with the images portrayed by the “real Pastor’s’ in this reality series. Many have voiced their displeasure stating these Pastors are a disgrace to the Ministry. Their behavior and conversation is more akin to Pimps, Players and Hustlers, then to “Men of God.” The consensus I have read, seem to feel that this show does a disservice to the Church, God and the Ministry of Preaching.
While these “Pastors” have undoubtedly accomplished great works in their respective church communities, the images they project by their lavish lifestyles promotes the Non-Biblical, Prosperity Gospel. The parable of Jesus and the wealthy young ruler clearly shows that the love of this world and its wealth, luxury and power, will keep you from following Christ. Christ and His Apostles example in ministry shows us to be modest, humble and reserved in our speech. Ministers are to be bold in proclaiming the Gospel and serve God’s people in humility and love.
What we are witnessing in this reality series are men who have forgotten what their high calling to the ministry of God’s people is about! They have allowed the deceptiveness of ego and self-aggrandizement to cause them to believe it is about them and they have power of their own. They believe their own hype and the praise and applause of their congregations. It is God and God alone through His Holy Spirit that draws the sinner to salvation. The accumulation of wealth and material things is not evidence of God’s favor.   The Pharisees’ attempted to put forth this same argument to Jesus, without success. Titles and opulent houses, expensive cars and clothes; wealth and success, are not a badge of anyone’s righteousness.
We as a people and followers of Christ need to stop elevating these men to objects of praise and worship. God alone deserves our praise and worship, not the shepherds! We cause them to err with our adoration. When they do err, we lose our faith because we put our faith in fallible men and not the infallible God! To be called to minister is a high honor! It is a privilege and a greater responsibility. He is set aside by God for the special work of serving God’s people and kingdom building. A MINISTER MUST BE ABOVE REPROACH AND OF GOOD CHARACTER! HE MUST NOT EVEN GIVE THE APPEARANCE OF IMPROPRIETY IN HIS ACTIONS OR THE ADMINISTRATION OF GOD’S CHURCH! The Church is an edifice dedicated to the worship God. It is not supposed to be a monument to the pastor!
Those who are called to the ministry of God’s Word to His people must be humble! They are not boisterous and immodest! The notion of humility is a notion of selflessness, commonness, submissiveness and lowliness. The Apostle Paul states the minister’s position clearly in
2 Corinthians 4:7 “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves;” (NASB) In Paul’s time, it was customary to conceal treasure in clay jars, which had little value or beauty and did not attract attention to themselves and their precious contents. The treasure Paul is speaking of is the Gospel of Jesus Christ! The earthen vessels or clay pots he is alluding to are the preachers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is not our Gospel! We are simply the clay pots that contain this Glorious Gospel!
In the previous verse of 2Corinthians 4:5, he clarifies the minister’s position of service; “For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus’ sake.” We don’t preach our own gospel as do the false teachers, who are puffed up with self-importance. Who live flamboyant lifestyles to be seen of men! This Gospel is not about the preacher or pastor!  We are servants/slaves for Jesus’ sake. Not only are we the servants/slaves of God, but we are servants/slaves of God’s people. This is the attitude Paul had towards his ministry and this is the attitude these pastors should have and display. If you are seeing anything other than humility and service; that means they have either forgotten or abandoned their high calling. In either case, they are not good representatives of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to His people!
It would appear from the episodes recently aired, that these so called pastors have chosen their own paths, differing from sound biblical teachings. Let us pray that those who have set themselves aside from the path that God called them to follow will awaken and repent of their follies! Let us pray that they stop playing with God and His Word! This is a game they cannot win! I personally know of a preacher who played with God; misused his calling and misguided God’s people. His deeds were eventually exposed. He was suddenly stricken with a debilitating disease and laid on his back unable to speak or eat, for ten years before he died!
The call to ministry to God’s people is a serious responsibility and not to be taken lightly! It is to be upheld by the highest ethical standards! A wise man once said, “Ministers should desire to be effective expositors of God’s Word and true pastors, not showmen or motivational speakers.” A minister must live up to the call on his life or leave it alone! If you continue to play with God, you will get burnt! From all the news headlines of falling pastors, it appears that God is making manifest the corruption under His name; in His churches and the body of Christ.
The time is at hand! Repent and set God’s house in order!
